Unleash the dark side in you

This  season sees a new sexual sensation on the catwalk with Fetish being one of the main trends influencing designers. There is no hiding under oversized knits this winter, with leather, PVC and lace making its way down the catwalk and on to our high street.

Things got steamy at the Alexander McQueen show with spray on leggings, leather gloves, metal heals and leather harnesses attached to the models, it was not one for the faint hearted.

Designers such as Lavin, Mugler and Michael Kors seemed to embrace the seductive and sexual style with class. Louis Vuitton took Fetish to the next level with French maids, bondage and blind folds, however many of the dresses were designed with peter pan collars giving a hint of innocence to the collection. 

The high street has already embraced this style with stores such as Topshop designing the popular bodycon dress with lace detailing and Wearhouse with this spot mesh cape dress that is heavily influenced by Marc Jacobs where polkadots are heavily featured thought his collection.

Have a field day

I can’t ignore the feeling of anticipation running through me as I dig out my mud- caked Hunter Wellies from last year and my fur coat which I purchased from the Oxfam tent to keep me warm in the English summer. There is something very British about pitching up your tent up with a peg in one hand and a can in another watching your friends set up a camp fire to keep warm.

I have chosen British band Two Door Cinema Club as my soundtrack as I scribble my first blog. The Band that are set to play the main stage of Leeds and Reading festival this year. After seeing their amazing set at Park Life Festival in Manchester last month, I can’t wait to be in the crowd again watching them play songs such as “Something Good Can Work” which got their name on the map in March 2010.

Not only have bands and artists embraced the festival feeling but also designers have grabbed the opportunity to make festivals fashionable. Dolce & Gabbana lead the way this year with their floral 70s inspired dresses and playsuits, the different shades of green used and floral patterns create a theme of nature perfect for the out doors with wellingtons and headscarves to finish the look. Marc Jacobs created the perfect festival look with his S/S 2011 collection, the pieces are ready to wear with high waisted skirts, and brightly coloured dresses and the one festival must have, the parka jacket. 

This trend has also grabbed the attention of high street stores such as Topshop and Warehouse who have created a few pieces perfect for the season. With high waisted shorts at the top of the list down to bright, floral wide leg trousers and maxi dresses. With Fringed denim jackets and Lady Gaga style sunglasses you’re sure to get into the festival feeling!
